Dear Readers:
You are all such wonderful furrrrriends! I can't wait to tell Bogdan about all of you stopping by and purring for him. (The V-E-T is mean and wouldn't let me meow to Bogdan over the phone.)
He is doing better, but he can't leave the V-E-T a day early, like Mom had hoped. The catheter has to stay in until tomorrow (Thursday) because there are still some crystals, the V-E-T says. But she also says he is eating and drinking well, and "enjoying his little cage." (You all know Bogdan: THAT can't be true. ENJOYING a cage?) Mom will pick him up tomorrow afternoon if all goes as planned. We should also hear from the V-E-T again tonight.
My Mom has a request: All of you kitties who said this has happened to you and now have to eats special foods (SPECIAL FOODS! NOM NOM NOM), could you please tell us what those special foods are?
Mom and Dad are considering a raw foods diet for us. Isn't that what you do Rocky?? They are vegetarians, though, and a little grossed out about it! (Teehee! Theys silly!) They would do anything for us, though, they say.
Sara: It's OK, Kat 3, our brother will be home soon.I also apologize that there was no update yesterday. Mom worked a 12-hour day. I don't know if Bogdan told you, but she works at a "real" newspaper, which takes lots of her hours lots of the time.

DKM is also a veggie but gets raw food for me at the pet food store 'cause she won't touch it or cook it, it being meat. I eat Chicken from Nature's Variety.

Hooray! Bogdan will be home soon! I used to eat Hill's X/D prescription food (canned and dry). My vet's office said that this is discontinued and I switched to Hill's C/D Multicare. I'm not sure if Hill's discontinued the X/D or if that office just stopped carrying it. I am supposed to be on that food for the rest of my life! I had surgery to remove my stones and they were sent to the lab which found that my stones are oxalate (I think struvite stones are more common).
ps: My Mommie and Daddie are vegetarians, too!

Regarding raw food, the recipe my human uses calls for either raw or cooked meat, but she cooks ours because we don't like it raw. Also, we prefer chicken, and raw chicken is risky when it comes to bacteria and parasites.
You can find the recipe we use in the sidebar of our blog. The book we got the recipe from has an excellent chapter on handling feline urinary problems, with advice from different vets. If you don't have the book we would be happy to scan that chapter and email it to you!

Poor Bogdan - we had hoped he'd be home by now.... But we are glad you will be tomorrow - maybe you can even sneak in to the tea party we are giving for Miss Peach's 15th birthday on board the cruise ship on Antarctica!
The maid is a vegetarian too but she gets Karl organic raw beef and even cuts it up for him in little pieces!

Wow... it's interesting how many beans here are vegetarians... our Mom and Dad are vegetarians too! Mom looked into the raw food diet for awhile and there are some great groups out there she can dig up to help you with the transition if you choose to do that. For now, they've decided not to do it, but then, neither of us has any special dietary needs or health problems. Let us know what you work out! We're so glad Bogdon is on the mend!
